For these last two weeks, I have posted eight days out of ten applicable days. I am running out of ideas that don’t involve politics, and training for my new job has impacted my free time. Most of the problem is finding nonpolitical topics.
WordPress and several other pieces of web software written in PHP are notorious for using old and broken algorithms for securing passwords. If you are using a PHP version of 5.5 or newer, you should get okay security by default. However, even phpass’ developers recommend not using their software if you can use PHP 5.5 or newer. I strongly suggest installing and enabling the PHP Native password hash plugin, especially if your WordPress install was ever run on any of the PHP 5 family. The plugin’s two most significant advantages are it actually gets updated to include new, more robust algorithms, and it automatically migrates passwords to the newer algorithms on login.
During the previous 2 Weeks Posting Challenge, I missed one of eighteen days that it covered. I missed six of the sixteen days covered by this period.
Why did I miss those days? A lack of good topics to write about and a combination of not sitting down to write. I do not want to turn this blog into a political blog. However, divisive politics keep cropping up all the time.
I spent yesterday and today cleaning out my bedroom to make room for this.
There will not be a bigger post today. So here is a photo of Callie.
When I rebooted my blog, yet again, I gave myself the personal challenge of writing at least one article per day. Except for August 3rd, 2020, I have met that challenge. Let’s see it continue.
I am planning on a video for today’s post. It is processing right now, and that will take some time. Hopefully, it will be prepared and uploaded before 17:00 tonight.
There will not be a new post today. I have been running into several problems trying to get a video done for the Friday post. The Saturday post maybe a rant about getting OBS to record in a better intermediate format than x264.
